| Over the years we have made several animations of our molecular dynamics simulations of keV particle bombardment (i.e., sputtering). The first movie, Femtosecond by Femtosecond, was made by Nick Winograd and me during the 1977-1980 period at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory directly on 16 mm movie film. The second video, Electronic Excitation of Rh Atoms, was made on video tape ca. 1991 by Dan Bernardo. During the summer of 1992, Roger Webb from the University of Surrey, UK, and Roger Smith from Loughborough University, UK, visited Penn State for two weeks. Along with Eric Dawnkaski they made SPUT92. |
| Videos and 16 mm movies are quickly becoming antiquated. The staff at the Faculty Multimedia Center at Penn State have converted our sputtering animations to streaming video that can be viewed on a PC or MAC (sorry no UNIX) with Quicktime. Each animation has been subdivided into segments. Each segment has been made into a high resolution copy appropriate for LAN access. In addition, there is a copy of each segment for DOWNLOAD that also can be used with Quicktime. |
The animations can be accessed via the titles below. To return to this page click on the tab "Sputtering: Classics." Enjoy! --- Barbara Garrison
